Hi everyone,

We're excited to be back on the WBMR this season and what a season we have planned (I think...). I mean, at least for the next two weeks. After that, it's anyone's guess, but stay tuned at least for the next two weeks.

This week, we have a preview of things to come.

First off, the second cello concerto of Opus 77, by Dimitri Borisovich Kabalevsky. This one will be performed by Cai GoGwilt at MIT later this year by the MITSO.

But not everything we'll be talking about this season will be twentieth century Russian. For instance, there's this string quartet No. 8 (oh wait...):

There's also this really cool concerto by Maurice Ravel--no disc this time (we're old-school: we're going from LP!). Performed by Aldo Ciccolini at the piano with Jean Martinon conducting the Orchestre de Paris off the EMI label. This little ditty will be performed by the MITSO also, with David Deveau at the piano.

And, just in case you were beginning to think that classical music included everything but choral music, there's some of the Lenten Motets from this guy:
